Carmine Troisi

Four Generations of Buongiorno/Troisi Family Members

 

Carmine Troisi was the Canon of the Collegiate Church of Saint Michael (Canonico of La Collegiata di San Michele) in Solofra, Avellino, and archpriest (primicerio) of same from 1941 to his death in 1948. Born 1866 to Domenico Troisi (1820-1893) and Maria Michela Gisolfi. Uncle ("Zio Canonico") of Domenic Troisi, brother-in-law of Maria Michele Buongiorno (Donatus Buongiorno's sister.) Wrote a book of poems, Sonetti Volanti, which was published under a pen name, Italo Irpino, in 1926. The priest in this painting by Buongiorno may be him. See other paintings of priests here.
